akielonDamianos--Damen to those closest to him--is a character from the Captive Prince Trilogy by C.S. Pacat. The setting is one of an ancient, foreign world, with Damen's own country of Akielos being written with Greco-Roman influences.
Damen is the Crown Prince of Akielos, meant to inherit after his father. He is an expert swordsman and military tactician, and the pride of his country. However, his bastard half-brother Kastor betrays him and gives him to the kingdom of Vere, Akielos' long-time rival, as a slave. There, Damen becomes the bed slave of the frigid Prince of Vere, Laurent; whose elder brother Damen slew six years previous in battle. While in Vere, he hides his identity and plays along, though his mind is constantly on escape. Eventually he becomes entangled in the political intrigues of the Veretian court, where Laurent's uncle, the Regent, is trying to do away with Laurent and become king in his own right.
TL;DR: two enemy princes team up to try to take back their crowns from the family members who stole their kingdoms.
Appearance-wise, he is a bit intimidating. Damen is tall, muscular, and carries himself with pride. He has an olive complexion with dark hair and dark eyes. In trying to find a PB that fits his physical appearance as well as the period in terms of costume, I settled on Jason Momoa in Conan the Barbarian.
Belying his outward appearance, Damen's personality is kind, noble, and trusting. He is still a brutal fighter when the occasion calls, and can sometimes be quick to anger (especially if one knows how to push his buttons); but he doesn't fight for the sake of fighting or to pick on those who are weaker. He cannot abide injustice, even when it happens to people who ought to be his enemies, and will rise to defend those who cannot defend themselves. Sometimes he places trust in people he shouldn't, and in this sense, he can be a bit naive. Damen will almost always give somebody the benefit of the doubt.
